The dream of battery-free units has taken an unlikely flip, as Carnegie Mellon researchers debuted Power-Over-Skin. The expertise permits for electrical currents to journey via human pores and skin in a bid to energy issues like blood sugar displays, pacemakers, and even client wearables like smartglasses health trackers.
Researchers observe the tech remains to be in “early levels.” In the meanwhile, they’ve showcased the tech supporting low-power electronics just like the LED earring pictured above.
